No understanding misunderstand

This piece was posed to me by a friend, A drawing depicting emotion in the form of symbols. I think when I have more time I will take this further, but for now I like it.
I wanted to make the smoke betterand actually seem like it was engulfing her. That effect didnt take into effect obviously.
The emotion is a problem I am dealing with, and a person very dear to me. Its describes a pain I feels like my chest is being stepped on. Its both a mixture of concern, as well as a feeling of betrayal in a way. A mix of many things all connecting into one. The border shows that as it swirls and breaks then reconnects.
The water shows a lack of being able to come clean with this. Water being a symbol of purification, and rejuvination. Yet not being able to enter, merly sitting on top.
The hearts shows the emotion, and the color red shows something I dont want to reveal. lol. I think until I am more awake that is as much as an explaination I can give.
Done on photoshop 9.5, time: 3 + hours.
